Pediatric Endocrinology
Pediatric Endocrinology is the branch of science that deals with hormonal diseases in children and adolescents. In Koru Hospital Pediatric Endocrinology Department, all hormonal disorders (short stature, early and late adolescence, menstrual irregularities, diabetes, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), obesity, excessive hair growth, thyroid diseases, calcium and bone metabolism disorders in children from the newborn period to the age of 18 , adrenal gland, pituitary gland diseases) are diagnosed, treated and followed-up.
Since children are in continuous growth and development, unlike adults, the deficiency or excessive secretion of any hormone can cause life-threatening situations, as well as irreversible mental retardation, growth and development retardation, sex ambiguity and deformities. Disorders related to the secretion of hormones can be congenital or may occur later.
Excessive consumption of addictive foods and beverages (chocolate, chips, coke and similar products) and inactivity have led to an increase in childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes. On the other hand, hormonal foods, ready-made foods, air pollution, dyes in toys, shampoos, cleaning agents, packaging, medicines, clothing, and chemicals and additives found in many substances used in daily life act as hormones in our body and affect the endocrine system and these substances are called "endocrine disruptors". Endocrine disruptors disrupt the entire signaling system of the endocrine system by acting like a jammer that disrupts the electrofrequency signals. Accordingly, growth retardation, obesity, diabetes, cognitive impairment, hyperactivity and many other endocrinological disorders occur. The onset of puberty has started to shift to very early ages especially in girls due to the chemicals exposed to.
