Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology, also known as vascular and interventional radiology (VIR), is a specialized branch of radiology that utilizes advanced imaging techniques to guide minimally invasive procedures for diagnosing and treating various medical conditions. Interventional radiologists use a range of imaging technologies such as X-rays, ultrasound, CT scans, and MRI to visualize the inside of the body and guide small instruments, such as catheters, needles, and wires, to perform precise and targeted procedures.

At KORU Hospitals, our interventional radiology team comprises highly trained physicians who are experts in image-guided interventions. We offer a comprehensive range of interventional radiology procedures, including angioplasty, stenting, embolization, biopsy, and drainage procedures. Our goal is to provide our patients with the most advanced and minimally invasive treatments possible to achieve the best possible outcomes.

X-rays are a type of electromagnetic radiation that can penetrate the body to create images of internal structures. Interventional radiologists use X-rays to guide catheters and other instruments to the target site within the body. Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of organs, tissues, and blood vessels. This imaging technique is used to guide needles and catheters for procedures such as biopsies and drainage procedures.

CT (Computed Tomography) scans use X-rays and computer technology to create detailed images of internal organs, bones, and tissues. Interventional radiologists use CT scans to guide needle biopsies and drainages. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of organs, soft tissues, and bones. Interventional radiologists use MRI to guide targeted biopsies and to perform MR-guided focused ultrasound treatments.

Our interventional radiology team works in collaboration with other specialists in our hospital to provide comprehensive, personalized care to meet the unique needs of each patient. We are committed to using the latest technology and techniques to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. Our goal is to provide less invasive and less painful procedures with shorter recovery times compared to traditional surgeries.
