    Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV)

    Oral Mucositis

    Oral mucositis is an inflammation of the lining of the mouth caused by chemotherapy or radiation therapy. It usually occurs within two weeks after treatment begins. Symptoms include pain, burning, tenderness, swelling, ulcers, and white patches inside the mouth.

    Candidiasis

    Candidiasis is a fungal infection of the skin and nails. It often appears as small red spots on the tongue, lips, cheeks, gums, and other areas of the body. Treatment includes antifungal medications such as nystatin.

    Thrush

    Thrush is an inflammation of the mucous membranes lining the inside of the mouth. This condition usually occurs when there is an imbalance between the bacteria in the mouth and the immune system.

    Stomatitis

    There are several different types of stomatitis, each with its own cause and treatment. One type of stomatitis is called Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV). HSV is caused by a virus that attacks the cells in the mouth. It can also spread to other parts of the body, causing cold sores.
