What Is Dehydration? How To Prevent It?

Dehydration is when your body loses more water than it takes in. Learn what causes dehydration and how to prevent it!

Dehydration occurs when your body doesn't take in enough fluids. It can happen for many reasons, including drinking too little water, eating less than usual, exercising without drinking, or sweating heavily.

    Why Do We Lose Water?

Dehydration happens because our bodies need water to function properly. Our kidneys filter waste products out of our blood and replace them with water. If we don't drink enough water, our kidneys will not work as well, and we'll lose water through urine.

    The Causes Of Dehydration

There are several reasons why people might become dehydrated. They could be drinking too little water, or they could be taking in less fluid than they should. In addition, some illnesses can cause dehydration. These include kidney failure, liver disease, and congestive heart failure.

    How To Prevent Dehydration

If you drink enough fluids throughout the day, you won’t need to worry about becoming dehydrated. However, if you aren’t getting enough liquids, you will likely notice signs of dehydration. You might feel thirsty, tired, weak, or even dizzy.

    Signs And Symptoms Of Dehydration

Dehydration occurs when your body loses too much fluid through urination, sweating, breathing, and other bodily functions. This happens because your kidneys remove excess water from your blood as part of normal function.

    Treatment For Dehydration

If you feel thirsty, drink plenty of fluids. You should also avoid drinking alcohol, caffeine, and sugary drinks. These beverages cause your body to retain less water.
