He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1983. He completed his two-year compulsory service at SSK Eyüp Hospital and Topçular and started his residency training in Chest, Cardiovascular, and Thoracic Surgery at Ankara University in 1985. He completed his residency training in the same department in 1991 after leaving and became an assistant professor in 1993, associate professor in 1997, and professor in 2002, continuing his educational and teaching duties until his retirement in 2010. After 2010, he continued his domestic and international work.
In 1988, he received training on "artificial heart and assistive circulation system" in France. In the same year, he was part of the team that performed the first artificial heart transplant in Turkey. His interest in heart transplantation and support systems increased from that point on. He was a member of the "Heart Transplant" team established in our department. In 1994, he worked on heart transplantation and homograft applications at Harefield Hospital and the National Heart Lung Institute in England. In 2001, he worked on aortic surgery at Methodist Hospital in America to develop his knowledge and experience. He conducted new practices and studies such as bone marrow stem cell applications in peripheral vascular diseases, mitral valve repairs, and bypass surgeries in working hearts, which were quite new at that time. He led the establishment of the "homograft valve laboratory" in our department in 2008. He was the head of the Heart Transplant Center from 2003 to 2009.
Starting from 2007, he began to conduct regular training activities in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Tirana Military Hospital in Albania. He also continued his activities in Turkey during this period. He established the cardiology and cardiovascular surgery clinics within the Military Hospital in Tirana. Later, he established and served as medical director and chief of the cardiology and cardiovascular surgery departments at four hospitals in the region, including Kosovo, where modern medical practices are applied, and performed numerous surgeries in the area. In 2015, he was awarded the Medal of Distinguished Service and State Medal by President Bujar Nishani. Currently, he works at Koru Hospital, and his medical interests are as follows:
